In the series Magic Knight Rayearth, there seem to be specific characters who are paired off with other specific characters in the series. Fuu/Ferio, Caldina/Lafarga, even Hikaru/Lantis/Eagle is shown to us. But Ascot and Clef are rather left out.

Ascot has an obvious crush on Umi, who happens to seem completely oblivious. He would do anything for her.

Clef is very protective of Umi and seems to possibly have some feeligns for her that she might return.

This is one of the greatest debates in the Rayearth fandom. "Who is Umi paired with?" Whether or not you participate in this debate, or even better if you do, this fanlisting is for anyone who recognizes that there is an unspoken rivalry between Ascot and Clef over this Magic Knight.
